- Double Ended Shaping Brush

If you have been diagnosed with FMS, you know the overwhelming aches, pain and fatigue of fibromyalgia all too well. It makes every movement of your body an excruciating effort.

Imagine if some of that pain could be relieved - without barraging your body with any more harsh drugs.

Sound impossible? Think three things: chemical sensitivities, guaifenesin and emu oil.

Doctors are now recognizing that as many as 75 percent of the people who suffer with fibromyalgia are also sensitive to many common, often unavoidable chemicals, like perfumes, pesticides and fuels. Additionally, some individuals develop symptoms similar to fibromyalgia when they eat foods that contain additives. Some experience symptoms when exposed to carpeting and building materials.

Diagnosis of chemical sensitivities is difficult, since the signs so closely parallel those of fibromyalgia. Not only do they include the aches and pains associated with the autoimmune disease, but symptoms of chemical sensitivity may include unexplained fatigue and difficulty in sleeping as well as difficulty in breathing.

Additional signs of this problem include painful headaches, very often migraines, nausea, diarrhea and abdominal cramps. The signs even manifest as the flu-like symptoms of a runny nose, itchy eyes, and a sore throat. Some individuals complain of problems with concentration.

Chemical sensitivities usually accompany fibromyalgia. Medical experts are at a loss to explain what causes this health problem. But, that doesn't mean your doctor can't help lessen these problems. With a few simple lifestyle changes, including some which may involve your diet, you may be able to pinpoint the exact causes. Even partial relief is helpful.

Another helpful way to relieve pain besides monitoring chemical triggers I listed above, is to use emu oil on painful muscles. The emu bird was originally used by Australian Aborigenies for their meat and the oil had many uses.

Studies from University of Australia report temporary relief for painful muscles, arthritis joint pain, eczema, aging and many other uses. The meat is also reported to be healthier than chicken breast as far as cholesterol is concerned. So if you want an easy, safe and inexpensive way to relieve painful muscles due to fibromyalgia, try rubbing in some emu oil. Just make sure it's pure and has the American Emu Association seal of approval. If the oil has not been purified properly, it may contain contaminants.

Guafenesin is an over-the-counter supplement that best selling author endocrinologist Paul St. Amand, M.D. prescribes with high success for his patients who suffer with FMS. In his book, "What Your Doctor May Not Tell You About Fibromyalgia", he explains how guaifenesin can help relieve symptoms. However, your personal care and cosmetic products should not contain any "salicylates" for the guaifenesin to work. A website that has products without salicylates or many of the chemicals that may cause sensitivities, is www.cleure.com. They also have a lot of information on FMS.

If you suffer with fibromyalgia and chemical sensitivities, read Dr. St. Amand's book and visit http://www.cleure.com for safe alternatives to your personal care and cosmetic products.

A healthy body has healthy beautiful hair. Our hair is a reflection of our health.
At any given time, about 90 percent of the hair on the scalp is in its growing phase. This growing phase lasts for 2 to 6 years. Each hair grows approximately 1 centimetre per month during this phase. The rest, 10 % are in their resting phase. After 2 to 3 months, the resting hair falls out and new hair starts to grow in its place. It is normal to shed some hair each day as part of this cycle. However, some people may experience excessive hair loss, if more hairs enter the resting phase.

Some facts you need to know about hair loss:

It is normal to lose 50-100 hairs from the head each day.

Frequent shampooing does not lead to hair loss.

Hats and wigs do not cause hair loss.

The famous 100 strokes of the hair brush daily does not lead to healthy hair, but it definitely does improve blood circulation to the hair follicles.

Cosmetic products do not cause the hair to grow thicker and faster.

Some hairstyles, like braiding, tight ponytails can cause hair loss.

Blow-drying can worsen hair loss.

Scalp hair grows at a rate of about 1 cm a month.

Each hair on the head grows for about 3-6 years before being shed.

What are the causes of hair loss?

- Stress hair loss is temporary, but can trigger off a genetic hair loss in many people.

- Extensive use of birth control pills by women.

- Hormonal problems - Hair loss may also occur if male hormones (androgens) and the female hormones (estrogens) are imbalanced.

- Post delivery hormonal changes: Many women notice hair loss about 3 months after they've had a baby. This loss is also related to hormones.

- Nutritional deficiencies: A diet deficient in nutrients such as protein, iron, zinc deficiency is a main cause of falling hair. Excessive intake of tea, coffee, alcohol; and fried, oily, spicy, sour foods can reduce the nutrients reaching the hair follicles and may lead to hair loss.

- Drugs and medicines such as anticoagulants, chemotherapy drugs to treat cancer and antidepressants.

- Hereditary

- Infections of the scalp: Fungal infections of the scalp such as ringworm, or a sexually transmitted disease such as Treponema pallidum can cause hair loss.

- Any underlying disease: such as lupus, lichen planus or diabetes.

- Age: Hair loss is a common symptom of the ageing process. The age of onset varies from one individual to another.

- Physical and emotional stress

Is there any treatment for hair loss?

Depending on the type of hair loss, treatments are available. If the hair loss is drug related, the doctor might change the medication. Correct diagnosis along with treating an infection may help stop the hair loss. Correcting a hormone imbalance may also prevent further hair loss.

Treatment of hair loss -

- If loss of hair is due to a temporary situation such as drugs or deficiency of serum, iron, it will stop when the cause ends.

- Hair loss due to infection may require oral antibiotics or drug treatment.

- Finasteride is a prescription medication that is prescribed only for men.

- Well-chosen hairstyles often hide thinning hair and hair loss effectively. Wigs are recommended if hair loss is severe.

- Hair transplantation, hair weaving and hair bonding has improved dramatically over the last several years. If done meticulously, the result is extremely natural appearing.

Some tips for beautiful lustrous hair:

The key to beautiful hair is a clean scalp. Gently rub lemon juice all over the scalp and leave for 15-20 minutes. Then rinse off. This treatment ensures dandruff free and absolutely clean hair.

Include a lot of calcium in diet, through dairy products, sesame seeds, figs.

A mixture of an equal quantity of fresh amla juice and lime juice, used as a shampoo also stimulates hair growth and prevents hair loss.

Avoid strong shampoos and conditioners. Also avoid exposing hair to harsh weather such as wind or sunlight for long duration.

Home made shampoo - Soak equal amounts of dried shikakai, amla and reetha powder in some water, preferably in an iron vessel. Next day, use it to wash hair. This promotes hair growth as well as cures dandruff.

For dry hair, increase the intake of polyunsaturated oils such as sunflower oil, margarine and eat food rich in Vitamin B like pulses, brown rice, bananas etc.

Regularly wash hair with Fuller's earth (Multani Mitti). This will not only reduce the oil, but the hair will feel much cleaner.

Amla is an excellent hair tonic and a hair nourisher. It also helps cure graying of hair.

Boil dried amla pieces in coconut oil for a few minutes. Cool and sieve. Massage hair with this oil regularly to get black, thick and lustrous hair.

Henna or mehendi is an excellent conditioner for hair.

Boil some tea leaves in 2-3 cups of water. Strain the liquid, cool it and use it on hair as the last rinse after shampoo.

Melissa & Doug Farm Wooden Chunky Puzzle

This hand-painted, playfully styled Jumbo Puzzle is sure to capture and keep the attention of curious young minds. The thick, chunky wooden puzzle pieces fit neatly into their spots on the colorful board and also stand up for additional pretend play. Puzzle features full-color images beneath each piece to guide little ones. Measures 12"H x 11"W x 0.8"D.
Customer Review: THRILLED GRANNY
My daughter-in-law said this is the best puzzle to date and that my two year old granddaughter plays with it all the time. She wants to buy more of them.
Customer Review: Fun yet educational!
I bought this for my 10 month daughter. She's a little young to understand the toy's concept. Nevertheless she loves it very much. Each animal piece is chunky yet compact for her to hold, and she loves the bright colors. Fun way to teach them about farm animals. Her favorite is the cow! Overall, it is a must-have for any child in their early developmental years. However I'm not so sure how durable or safe the paint is, as she is teething and bites on the pieces quite a bit...

Natural Herbal Remedies for Rosacea: Rosacea is a long-term abnormal skin condition that results in redness, pimples and sometimes thickening of the skin. Although many theories are the subject of medical research, no one knows what causes this disease. There is no cure for rosacea, but there are many treatments ranging from prescription medicine to natural remedies. This article considers some of the natural remedies that might be helpful to people with mild to moderate rosacea.

Green tea as a rosacea treatment: Many benefits of green tea have been observed over the years and it is widely used as a beverage both for its pleasant flavor and also because of belief in its healthful properties. In addition to the traditional tea beverage, extracts of green tea formulated into creams and lotions, are increasingly popular to help reduce the signs of skin aging. Green tea contains relatively high concentrations of natural compounds with scientifically-documented anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. These properties may be the basis of green tea extracts reducing sun sensitivity and reducing the signs of rosacea. In addition, some people report a benefit of green tea extracts even without significant sun exposure. It is very important to use reliable formulations and to start very carefully to avoid unexpected allergy or irritation from the use of a new botanical extract.

Lavender as a rosacea remedy: Lavender has been long used in Iran for treatment of several different inflammatory diseases, but the active ingredients that may be responsible for the benefical effect are not known. Essential oils of lavender have been used in many cosmetic products, skin ointments for treatment of burns and insect bites, and many claims have been made about the relaxing or antidepressive properties of lavender fragrance. There is little direct evidence that lavender is helpful in the treatment of rosacea, but for some individuals, it may prove to be useful.

Treating rosacea with Oatmeal: The FDA recognizes collodial oatmeal (powder suspended in liquid) as effective for "minor skin irritation and itching due to poison oak. . .and insect bites." The same properties of oatmeal make it effective for many people in reducing the symptoms of rosacea. Oatmeal is reported to both relieve itching and also to contain antioxidants with anti-inflammatory properties which may be useful in treating rosacea. There are many commercial sources of oatmeal formulated into skin cleansers and ointments which may be helpful rosacea treatments.

Licorice for treatment of rosacea: This plant has been used for many centuries in Chinese medicine and as a folk remedy in Europe since at least the middle ages. One of the active ingredients in licorice, glycyrrhizin, is used in some commercial skin ointments and creams and has been shown to be effective in treating certain types of skin itching and redness. There are also synthetic chemical drugs related to glycyrrhizin under scientific investigation as potential therapies for various skin disorders.

Remember when considering the use of natural remedies that quality control of the products, and reliability of the claims on the package labels, are not closely regulated in the same way that drug quality and effectiveness is regulated. It is important to experiment carefully with a new skin treatment, being careful to avoid allergic reactions and irritation. It is also important to keep your physician informed about your use of natural rosacea remedies if you are also using prescription medicines to treat or prevent rosacea.

What's in the Box
Epilator, shaving head, brush, and pouch.

Customer Review: Plucks out some, not all
I was afraid to use this for a week after I got it because I was afraid it would be very painful. I thought I would just test it out on a little area of my leg, but it went so well that I did both legs and underarms in about 45 minutes on my first use. I've examined the hairs after this epilator pulled them out and it seems to be plucking hair from the underarm as I can see the little nasty roots of the hairs. On my legs, though, I am not quite sure. I can feel the machine pricking my skin, but after each use, my legs do not feel very smooth. I can feel the stubble already growing in! Like another reviewer has said, it seems to be only breaking the hairs off and not plucking from the roots. I am not sure why it works better on my underarms than legs because you would think it would be easier to epilate the leg cuz the surface area is larger and smoother than the nook of the underarm. Who knows! Maybe my leg hairs weren't long enough or something (not that I regularly keep godzilla-like pits...). I've only used this item twice, but I am not too excited with the results on the legs. I don't have a lot of hair, they are sparse but dark, so I will wait a little while for the leg hairs to get longer before using it again. Also, this little machine is very very loud. It's quite embarassing to use if there are other people in the house...
Customer Review: No more WAXing, PLUCKing, or downright SHAVEing.
I've had my X'elle for 3 months now. I purchased mine for $58.99 on amazon when it was the deal of the day. The epilator is sturdy and the light is a definite plus. It's very easy to switch from the epilator head to the shaving head. Braun was nice enough to supply us with a little brush that helps to clean the hairs from both the epilator head and the shaver head. The bag is very cute and compact which is great for travel. It holds everything including the manual. After 3 months of use, my light tends to turn off (from the vibration i think), but all I have to do is push down on the piece and it comes on again. I'm thinking that pushing it down connects the light to some sort of circuit under neath the part. Not a big deal. 40 spinning tweezers at even the low setting looks shockingly fast. The epilator head design is very unique and trustworthy. 3 months of use and it still hasn't pinched my skin with the tweezers. Not even on my elbow or knees. If you're a regular shaver like me, than brace yourself for the pain. I was only able to get through with one leg the first time and it must have taken a good 10min with the breaks i gave my poor leg. Rest assure that it is very painful only the first few times. Once you make it a habit to epilate once a week or at the sign of hair growth, then the pain is bearable or nonexistent. The messaging rollers don't help much but it's better to have that attachment on then with the regular attachment on the epilator. The clear trimming attachment for the shaver is very useful to get the hairs down to the right size before epilating. It helps to reduce the pain caused from tugging the hair. Also it helps the tweezers get a closer grip when the hair is short. I've only used it on my legs, arms, and upper lip so far. Not able to muster up the courage to epilate under arms or bikini area, but that's what the shaver head is for :-) Do not epilate before making a public appearance. Your skin may seem fine, but the redness will kick in after a few min. Best used before sleeping. I run the epilator with an alcohol pad to disinfect it before use. just hold the pad against the back portion of the roller and turn the epilator on on low. The only reason not to get this epilator would be to get a cordless one so you are not restricted to epilate in areas with an outlet, or a wet & dry epilator so you can epilate in a nice warm shower when your pores are open, hence less pain :) But with all that in mind, this is the cheapest and a very popular epilator for the lack of those options.

At times your dandruff problem becomes a cause of embarrassment in your work place and even at home. Dandruff appears on your hair as you brush them and further fall on to your face, shoulders and clothes. It is one of the most common hair related problems.

The cosmetic industry has been pouring a large number of chemical products made for dandruff cure. These products have not been accepted by the environment in a very good manner as they are costly and results have been lukewarm. There are numerous home remedies and natural products which not only cure dandruff but also make the hair look shiny and healthy.
Dandruff problem is a condition of the skin wherein shiny, silvery scales separate from the scalp and collect amidst the hair. The condition can become troublesome when the skin gets infected. If left untreated, it may turn into a more serious problem even leading to baldness in extreme cases.

Due to unawareness you may be unable to ascertain whether you have dandruff problem or not. Itching of scalp is the first sign of dandruff presence. Other than adults even kids are found to be scratching their scalp and at times to such an extent that it becomes red. With the onset of the problem, when the hair is combed or the scalp is scratched the scales fall on the shoulders and the face. With the drying of scalp, dandruff problem sets in. It may be which may be due to several reasons. Improper hair care, use of harsh shampoos, exposure to extreme heat and cold and exhaustion are some of the causes. Toxicity resulting due to wrong intake of food, constipation, and a low vitality to infectious diseases may also cause the problem.

The home remedies available for dandruff cure are very easy and are not cumbersome. Fenugreek seeds have been found to be one of the most important remedies for treatment of dandruff. Soak a handful of fenugreek seeds in water overnight. Grind it in the morning to form a thick paste. Apply the paste on to your scalp generously and leave it to dry on its own. It normally takes 30-45 minutes to dry. The scalp should then be cleansed thoroughly with soap nut solution or shikakai.

The other recommended cure dandruff is lime juice. Take two tablespoons of fresh lime juice and use it for the last rinse while washing the hair to get rid of dandruff. Regular use of lime juice not only removes dandruff but also makes the hair look shiny and non sticky.

Gram powder is also used as a cure for dandruff. Take handful of gram powder and mix it in a cup of curd to form a thick paste. Apply the paste to the hair and scalp and leave it for drying. Utmost care should be taken while washing out the paste as it leaves a pungent smell if not properly washed. Beet preferably white beet can also be used for dandruff cure. Boil the top and root of beet in water. Massage the boiled water on to the scalp with the finger tips every night to get rid of dandruff.

A well balanced diet is also recommended by dermatologist to remain away from dandruff. Fresh fruits and vegetables should form part of the food habits. People suffering from dandruff should avoid citrus fruits, bananas and tinned fruits. Strong tea/coffee, refined and processed food should also be avoided.

Home remedies do not have any form of side effects. They dont burn a hole in your pocket and have proved to be far more effective then cosmetic products. Go for them with confidence and be regular in the process. The results will be evident very soon. Make your hair dandruff free.

The author is an expert in the treatment of all kinds of hair loss problems. She also gives treatment and advice on problems like hair removal and hirsutism.

All pimples form the same way, but they have different characteristics and shapes. They also can behave differently on different people. Acne occurs when a hair follicle becomes clogged and inflamed. This forms what's called a comedo. As the follicle continues becoming even more clogged, the comedo becomes engorged and inflamed, and forms a pimple. There are several types of acne, and each requires a different treatment.

If the acne is not inflamed, this is usually a closed comedo, or a whitehead. With a whitehead, the clogged hair follicle stays underneath the surface of the skin, and it appears as a small whitish "pimple."

A blackhead is an open comedo where the plugged portion gets larger and pushes through the surface. It doesn't look black because of dirt, but because of the melanin in the skin. This is another type of inflammatory acne.

The least severe type of inflammatory acne is called a papule, a pink bump, small and firm, which appears on the skin's surface. These are sensitive to the touch and are often considered an "in between" of non-inflammatory and inflammatory acne.

Pustules resemble papules because they are round, small lesions. However, pustules are inflamed and contain pus. At the base, they are red and have a whitish or yellowish center. In general, they don't contain a lot of bacteria, but they are irritated and inflamed because of interaction with sebum components.

Cystic acne, also called nodular acne, is very painful. These nodules are pus filled, inflamed lesions that are lodged deep within the skin. They occur when a comedo has burst open and spilled into the surrounding skin; the immune system responds with pus. This type of acne might remain for weeks or even months, and eventually harden into a cyst. Both cysts and nodules can leave deep scars.

Acne conglobata is a type of inflammatory acne that's very rare. It forms primarily on the buttocks, back and chest. It, too, has pustules and nodules, and it may also eventually lead to severe bacterial infection.

Acne cosmetica is a relatively mild form of acne. This is caused by topical application of cosmetic products. It leads to small pink bumps, with inflammation occurring on the chin, cheek and forehead. It can develop over a few weeks or a few months, but usually does not cause scars. It can persist indefinitely, but can go away if you find out what's causing it. Therefore, it is imperative to find out what is causing this type of acne's appearance.

Once you find out what causes your acne, you can treat it. Your doctor can help you find out where it's coming from, so that you can cure it.

Acne is a terrible condition and supposed "cures" are a dime a dozen. Most of these cures are old-wives-tales, or myths and have no effect whatsoever on acne. There is, however, one treatment program that stands above the rest. To learn more visit: http://www.natural-cures-for-acne.com/

Customer Review: Good tips!
I bought this dvd to show to my girls so they could learn how to apply makeup after seeing one of my daughters walk out of the bathroom one day with eyeshadow above her eyebrows. It was a great buy and we learned a lot from the dvd. Catherine Hickman keeps it really simple and uses the same technique over and over so you can see what you should do. My girls loved it and so did I. We were inspired to get on to Catherine Hickman's website, www.catcosmetics.com, and order some of her products. The products were excellent quality and beautiful colors and we are going to buy more. She had so many great makeup tips and we felt we could use all the information in the dvd. She really taught us how to wear makeup without looking like we have a mask on. She had a great tip for me, the mom on the go who has no time to apply makeup, and now I am able to pull myself together and look pretty even though I have no time. She was practical and told us that we could get away with buying cheap makeup but to splurge on good brushes- the key being to blend the makeup so it looks natural. My favorite part of the video is the introduction when she walks up to the camera and she has no makeup on! Kudos to her for being honest and making glamor accessable to the average Jane.

As anyone who has ever suffered knows, acne can be a debilitating condition, causing humiliation and embarrassment for the sufferer. Often the plague of adolescence, acne can also give rise to deeper psychological problems. Many sufferers feel a low self esteem, and left with little self-respect. Furthermore, it is a difficult condition to treat indefinitely, although there are a few natural remedies which have proven to be successful in treating the condition.

Acne is a recognised medical condition, and there are treatments available on prescription from your doctor. Additionally, you can buy a variety or medications over the counter, and there are countless books and programs for you to follow, although their success very much varies. It's really a case of trying and experimenting until you find things that suit you. Of course, by making some lifestyle alterations, you could help your condition.

The first thing you can do to work on reducing acne is to alter your diet. A healthy diet has been proven to help improve complexion, and it is clearly not going to hinder your condition. Try building your diet around a combination of carbohydrates, proteins and fat in proportion, and combine with healthy foods and snacks. Try to eat a healthy balance and consider everything in moderation. Additionally, why not consider a daily vitamin supplement to boost your immunity and the condition of your skin. Add fruit and vegetables wherever possible, and drink plenty of water. Keeping your body hydrated will have a substantial impact on the appearance of your skin.

Whilst configuring a diet plan to improve your acne you may also want to think about cutting out oily and fatty foods. These can lead to excess grease in the pores which ultimately contribute to acne. Additionally, you should think about using cleanser and other cosmetic products to keep your skin fresh, whilst not greasy. The products are out there, so experiment to find something that suits you and your skin type.

Neutrogena Healthy Skin Liquid Makeup, SPF 20, 1.1 Fl Oz (32 ml) (Pack of 2)

Make-up brushes and pencils need special care as they come in direct contact with that most sensitive part of your body your skin. Use these 5 free beauty tips to keep a high standard.

Free beauty tip #1:

Clean makeup brushes with a mild liquid soap.

Cup your hand, put in a little soapy water and swish the brushes in the palm of your hand until they are clean.

Rinse, reshape, and hang over the edge of a table so the air can dry them naturally.

To avoid damaging them, do not soak them in a sink or wrap them in a towel to dry.

Free beauty tip #2:

When purchasing an eyebrow brush, be sure it has firm bristles.

A soft brush will only slide over the surface.

A firm brush will groom and control the short eyebrow hairs.

Free beauty tip #3:

Use a concealer brush to apply concealer to the innermost corner of the eye.

This small, firm brush with a tip can reach this difficult spot which often appears dark as it is so recessed. In the absence of a concealer brush, use a finger to apply the concealer.

Free beauty tip #4:

If you wish to invest in quality makeup brushes, purchase natural bristle rather than synthetic bristles.

Sable is a strong favorite. Make sure the bristles are packed tight and not loose. Brush the back of the hand to make sure it doesn't lose too many bristles.

Free beauty tip #5:

When using an eyebrow pencil, use short, diagonal strokes in the direction of the hair growth.

Give more attention to areas where there are less hairs rather than an even coverage.

Note: Avoid the temptation to use an eyeliner pencil on the eyebrows. They are soft and malleable, ideal for the delicate eye area. An eyebrow pencil needs to be fairly hard to allow you to create tiny strokes in specific areas.

Make the Most of Your Lips ("Good Housekeeping" Mini Books)

Are you ready for the newest technique for cellulite treatment? This is something that the beautiful Jane Jetson would be mighty proud of to say the least.

If you've been waiting for the quick fix of cellulite treatment then your time looks like it may have arrived my friend.

It seems that as quickly and easily it is to get your eyes in tip top 20/20 shape, it's just as easy with the new technique of laser surgery for cellulite removal.

Yes maam, how happy are you to hear this glorious news?

What's more, the "FEL", or free-electron-laser will very likely be used to blast away acne as well in the next couple of years.

Here's what is happening so far though. The FEL beam can be produced very specificly, to heat and break down fat tissue, without damaging other body tissue.

In an article in The Times (Online) by Sam Lister, the good news on the new cellulite treatment was stated like this:

"Using the FEL, which is much more powerful than a conventional laser, the scientists were able to choose selected laser wavelengths that could heat up the fat, which was then broken down and excreted by the body".

Another huge benefit will be when the technique will be used to break down plaque in arteries.

In fact, the cellulite removal may be the secondary benefit in the grander scheme of it all don't you think?

Before you get excited however, it looks like this treatment won't be hitting the local strip malls just yet. It's being successfully tested on pig fat (not a bad place to start actually).

But, don't fret. There's still a lot that you can do to treat cellulite on your own. Not as easy as zapping it away, but hey, you appreciate more what you actually have to work for.

Calcium supplements are important for prevention of osteoporosis, which has also been associated with tooth loss. Calcium is needed for healthy bones, teeth, and muscle contraction.

It stands to reason that calcium would help not only osteoporosis but also preventing tooth loss through gum disease.

Pre and post menopausal women are among those that are at high risk for osteoporosis. Other situations that bring about gum disease and could lead to tooth loss include smoking or chewing tobacco, certain chronic illness such as diabetes, stress, poor oral hygiene, and heredity. Evidently, calcium is a good solution to help prevent gum disease, even if you were born with not the best dental genes.

You can get calcium from food or in supplement form. Calcium rich foods include milk, yogurt, and dark green vegetables. Women at risk of osteoporosis should take a minimum of 1200 mg of calcium per day.

What Type Of Calcium Should You Take?

There are several types of calcium that are sold in supplement form. The type you take is important since some dissolve and can be used by the body, while others require extra stomach acid for absorption, and may not be absorbed at all.

The different types of calcium include citrate, carbonate, dolomite, coral, gluconate and lactate.

Calcium citrate is the best and easiest to absorb. You can take it anytime including on an empty stomach since it doesn't require high a mounts of stomach acid to dissolve. However, you may need more pills to get enough "elemental calcium".

Some prefer the natural form through dolomite. However, you should know that this type can be hazardous. A study published from University of Alberta found it is insoluble in stomach acid and is eliminated before it can be absorbed and used by the body. Also, dolomite may contain toxin elements including lead.

Coral calcium should be avoided. Many health claims have been made about it, but not established as fact.

To prevent tooth loss, brush with toothpaste with baking soda to help neutralize acids in the mouth and take calcium supplements, preferably the citrate form. Eat a balanced diet rich in calcium and you'll keep smiling with happy teeth.

Customer Review: EXCELLENT MIRROR
Mirror, mirror on the wall, Now I see me - flaws and all. If anyone ever invents a mirror that shows positve characteristics rather than every little line and wrinkle, I'll be first in line. Meanwhile, this is an excellent mirror for plucking eyebrows, lining lips and eyes, etc. I'm not so sure about the light settings for day, evening office. Who knows what the light in my office is like? I especially like the adjustable arm so that the mirror can be brought as close as you wish, so no more stretching and leaning across a bathroom counter. It magnifies beautifully. Ah well, sometimes the truth is tough to take.

The natural product industry is indeed big business. In 2006 the natural product industry rose to over $56 billion dollars! This multi-billion dollar industry, wants you to go "natural" with all of your personal care and cosmetic products.

Consumers need to be aware that just because the label reads "natural", doesn't mean it really is.

There are no FDA (Food and Drug Administration) labeling guidelines or restrictions for adding the word natural to a product. Nor are any ingredients tested for safety by the FDA before manufacturers add them to the personal care and cosmetic products you buy.

In fact, real natural products would have to be kept in the refrigerator or it would become rancid!

The truth is that most "natural" ingredients such as herbs must be soaked in preservatives before adding them to a product. Since the preservative is not a separate ingredient, it does not need to be listed on the label. Therefore, you the unsuspecting consumer, think you are getting something natural, when you're not at all.

Before falling for the deceptive marketing of the word "natural" on a package, think about it. If the shelf life is over a week, it ain't natural! Actually, most products, natural or not, are made to last about two years on the store shelf.

A better option are products that contain "safe", tested for safety and truthfully labeled chemicals. Just like all natural ingredients are not natural and good, not all chemicals are bad.

The consumer advocacy organization Environmental Working Group lists which ingredients are toxic and must be avoided and even grades personal care and cosmetic companies for safety. Check your favorite product out at their website www.cosmeticdatabase.org.

As consumers we need to be wise before spending our hard earned money on products that claim to be "natural" but really are not.

Milady's Standard Textbook of Cosmetology and State Exam Review for Cosmetology (Milady)

In today's era of constantly stressed out life, with burdens galore, people seem to be living stressed out lives in the urban areas of the country.

Researchers reveal that the younger generations today are more prone to suffer from aging symptoms much earlier than their ancestors did. This can largely be attributed to the stressed out lives that the younger generation is leading today. However, other factors, such as smoking and health-related problems may also lead an individual to look much older than what they actually are. This is one of the main reasons why most of the people keep looking for different ways to appear younger and regain their youthfulness back. The fountain of youth is one such element, which seems like a ray of hope to many people battling the stress of burdened life and fast ageing.

It is believed that there exists a fountain of youth, whose magical water can help people to regain their youth. However it is also, sarcastically, famous that the search for this famous fountain of youth, much like the fountain itself, would remain eternal. People all over the world have not succeeded in finding out the exact location of this place. Even so, it is believed that this fountain of youth might be located somewhere near Florida. This is one of the main reasons why a large number of people and researchers have concentrated their searches on this place, alone.

The mythological and hugely controversial fountain of youth is increasingly being used by cosmetic giants as an effective advertising gimmick. Most of these companies try to sell their lotions, creams and other liquids and cosmetic products claiming that they are the next fountain of youth whose magical touch can help the masses to get rid of all their skin and age related problems.

Apart from this, a number of skin specialists and naturalists claim to know the secret of the fountain of youth. While some of them claim healthy food and a rich diet are the secrets behind the regaining of one's youth, others attribute an active lifestyle and regular exercise to be the key behind remaining young and cheerful.

There are also a number of spiritual gurus around the world who claim that fast aging is caused by incessant stress and worry. The aging process is further aggravated by the seething of negative feelings and emotions that do not get expressed. Hence, most of the spiritual gurus advise that the best way to regain youth is by weeding out all the negative feelings and adopting a better and optimistic approach towards life.

There is yet is anther set of researchers who claim that calorie restriction is the only way to retain youth. These researchers have claimed that the process of calorie intake can increase the lifespan of a person by as much as 50 years. Thus, no matter what one may believe, secret is that the fountain of youth lies within us and our practical and healthy approach toward life.

Customer Review: Love this!
My son recieved this toy for his 1st Birthday and he LOVES it! He walks all over the house, pulling it along behind him. There's nothing cuter than saying, "Walk your Froggy!" and seeing him run after it and walking his frog! This has proven to be his favorite birthday present, and it's such a high quality toy, I can definitely see passing it down to future siblings! =) One thing to watch though, the pull string is a bit too long, he has already wrapped it all the way arond his neck twice! That can easily be fixed by trimming it down and knotting the end if needed.
Customer Review: 15 month old LOVES this toy.
My daughter is 15 months old and loves pulling around things so this toy is perfect for her. She thinks its funny that a frog is following her around. It's well made, safe and a fun toy.

Acne - Skin care

Acne pimples plague many teenagers to a life altering extent. It can lead to self-consciousness for all but the most confident and self-assured individuals. For those with persistent acne, the hormones that bring about the onset of puberty, and that bring about the onset of acne can be a double-edged sword.

Fortunately there are effective treatments out there for it - many of them available over the counter. And while it may take a little time for these potions to get control of your acne, a little perseverance should yield positive results. And quite possibly, the use of these medications will minimize the emergence of any new lesions after you start using them.

But every bit as important as the use of the right medicine is employing the proper skin care regimen. For some acne sufferers, this can make the difference between a face full of pimples, and one with few or none. But skin care for acne is about more than just keeping your face clean by washing it a lot. In fact, washing your face too much can make acne worse by drying the skin and creating a lot more dead cells that can clog pores. So it's important to practice intelligent skin care.

You should keep your face clean, but don't overdo the washing. If you have existing lesions, you should wash your face gently. Scrubbing your face roughly can irritate acne, and even worse, rupture the pimples you already have. This can add to your pimple problems as scarring can result from breaking them. And you don't want to use anything rough textured when washing. Grainy cleansers or terry washcloths can also pop your zits. You should use your (clean) hands along with a gentle scrubbing motion. And just as important, rinse well to remove any soapy residue.

The cleansers that are specifically made for acne are the best choice for washing skin that is prone to it. They contain acne-fighting ingredients (like benzoyl peroxide) and can help fight acne by keeping your face clean, and by the inclusion of these ingredients that target the disease.

Use only non-comedogenic cosmetics and face creams, as other kinds may contain products that can aggravate or cause acne. Non-comedogenic means that it doesn't cause comedones (acne lesions), like many makeup and cosmetic products do. In fact, there's a mild but persistent type of acne specifically cause by cosmetics called, appropriately enough, acne cosmetica. Some of the ingredients in makeup that can cause acne are lanolin, mica, isopropyl myristrate, as well as many the fragrances used. So in choosing cosmetics, choose those that are labeled oil-free, fragrance-free and non-comedogenic. This applies to moisturizers as well.

Make sure that anything that comes in contact with your face is clean. Keep sheets and pillowcases clean and change them frequently. The accumulation of dirt and oil on these bedding items can aggravate or cause additional acne. The same applies to your hair. If it is long enough to contact your face, pull it back so this doesn't happen. This is especially important when sleeping.

And keep your hair clean. It can collect and accumulate both dirt and oil, and readily transfer them to your face. Also, be careful of gels and oils used around the hairline. This can cause acne in those areas even for those not prone to it. It's best to go lightly on the mousse if you've an acne problem.

Acne can be a challenge to control but in almost all cases it's possible to do so. Even if doing so means a visit to the dermatologist, the fix for your acne problem exists and it starts with proper skin care.

The long and interesting history of plastic surgery can be traced back to the ancient times. Doctors or medical practioners in old India started using skin grafts to reconstruct human skin spots in the 8th century BC.

An ancient Indian surgeon named Susrutha made the first recorded nose construction. He used a portion or some skin from a forehead. During that time, nose amputations were punishable by old Indian laws.

Several millennium later, the Romans performed simple techniques like repairing damaged ears. In Europe, Dr Heinrich von Pfolspeundt conducted a simple plastic surgery by removing skin coming from the arm’s back and sutured it in place.

However, the practice and science of plastic surgey advanced and became common only in the 19th and 20th centuries. It was because in the old times, too much danger was attributed to plastic surgeries.

In the United States, Dr John Peter Mettauer was the first American plastic surgeon. The first plastic surgery operation he performed was a cleft palate operation in which dates back to 1827. He designed his own instruments and operation materials.

The father of modern plastic surgery is Sir Harold Gillies. He was able to develop a number of techniques for modern plastic surgery. Sir Gillies focused on patients who suffered facial injuries during World War I.

Defining plastic surgery

The term plastic surgery is a general term referring to manual or instrumental treatment or operation performed for aesthetic or functional reasons or purposes.

The word ‘plastic’ from plastic surgey comes from a Greek ancient word ‘plastikos’ that means to shape or to mold.

There are two principal or main areas or fields of plastic surgery to date. These include:

o Reconstructive plastic surgery. This area of plastic surgery concentrates on masking or undoing destructions in the face or other external parts of the body. This form of plastic surgey include closing defects bu grafting skin with regional, local or distant flaps. Through the procedure tissues from other parts of the body is transferred to another part.

o Aesthetic or cosmetic surgery is the most common form of plastic surgery nowadays. This form of plastic surgery is most of the time made to modify or improve features in the face or body that the patient finds ugly or unflattering. Examples of this kind of plastic surgery are breast reduction or breast implantation.

Related disciplines to plastic surgery

From the history and the two broad areas of plastic surgeries, it can still be further subdivided. The American Board of Plastic Surgery also includes the study or further advancement in the following related specific disciplines:

o Craniofacial surgery. This form of plastic surgery involves the treatment or surgery to align or modify congenital or in-born physical defects, It includes cleft lip palate, craniosynostosis and other defects in the face due to in born causes and physical development.

o Hand surgery is another discipline where plastic surgeons are trained. They receive full training in the discipline.

o Maxillofacial surgery is one form of plastic surgery that involves maxilla or jaw and face. The field grew or sprang from the contributions and advancements in both oral surgeries and plastic surgeries. Examples of operations in this discipline are fractures in the jaw as well as in the face that may have arisen from accidents or brawls.

The Environmental Working Group is one of my favorite consumer advocacy groups. They hold no bars. No matter how big, powerful or even a respected natural company, EWG says it like it is.

In 2007 EWG reported that the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics (CSC) tested 33 brands of lipstick from various locations in the Northeast. Two television news programs, KCBS and Pittsburgh's WPXI, both tested several brands as well.

The results were shocking. They found over two-thirds had lead levels higher than the FDA's allowable level for lead in candy (.1 parts per million (ppm)! The brands that did contain lead included:

L'Oreal Colour Riche True Red - 0.65 ppm

Cover Girl Incredifull Lipcolor Maximum Red - 0.56 ppm

Dior Addict Positive Red - 0.21 ppm

Burt's Bee also contained lead, but the founder maintained that the levels should not be of concern.

So how much is too much lead in your lipstick for it to be of concern?

For me, any level!

Lipstick is easily absorbed through the lips and can be ingested as we lick our lips. As lead gets into the blood stream, it is stored in organs, tissues, bones and teeth. If it continues to accumulate in these areas in the body, even in small amounts, it can cause permanent damage to the central nervous system, especially the brain.

The problem stems back to the fact that the FDA does not regulate ingredients in personal care products or cosmetics.

The limits it has set for lead include the maximum allowable dosage levels of (MADL) of .1 ppm in candy, .5 ppm in food and 10 to 20 ppm in FD&C color additives, which according to EWG may be used in color lipsticks. The lead does not have to be listed on the label since it has been added to the color.

For years, we have been warned against lead in paint in old homes and toys purchased from China. Now we need to be careful of cosmetics purchased in stores or online, whether they are made in the U.S.A. or China.

My suggestion is to buy cosmetics without FD&C colors, especially red.

Skin Deep: Natural Recipes for Healthy Skin and Hair

For more than a decade, author Margaret Dinsdale developed and distributed her own line of natural skin-care products. In Skin Deep, she enthusiastically shares her simple secrets for healthy skin care. Now you, too, can avoid the artificial ingredients in overpriced and overpackaged commercial goods by learning how to make your own. These easy-to-prepare recipes for cleansers, toners, masks, bath and massage oils, shampoos and conditioners use all-natural ingredients readily available from the grocer, health-food store and backyard garden.

Beautifully designed with color photographs and botanical illustrations, Skin Deep is a delightful how-to guide for people of all ages and skin types who want to look and feel their best.

Customer Review: Easy, Wholesome Skin Care.
This book contains a list of the most commonly used herbs in home cosmetic making and their properties. In addition, it tells you the best method for extracting those properties for use in your products. There is also an informative section on essential oils. Simple, easy to follow recipes for toners, astringents, liquid soap, cremes, lotions, hair conditioning rinses, body powders, and more. Best of all, these recipes contain no synthetic ingredients or preservatives. If you want pure, safe skin care, this book is a must-have. As other reviewers have noted, it is for beginners, but the end results are first-rate and most are superior to the products I've made using other books.
Customer Review: Informative, good tips for beginners
I found the lists of ingredients and their uses in the beginning of the book very helpful in developing my own skin products. It lists the various ingredients commonly used in developing your own skin care treatments, such as carrier oils and herbs and explains how they are used. I think one just starting to make their own products would find this book very useful.

Lead poisoning or presence of lead in the blood is one of the most chronic problems affecting more than 3 million children in the United States.

Children have a greater ability to absorb lead. The most common source of it is the lead-based paint used for painting households and playground equipment. Similar paints are also used in toys and some imported crayons making them very dangerous for a child's health. Even adults working in certain professions have a greater risk of getting exposed to lead. These include individuals working in lead mines, battery manufacturing and recycling, construction work, auto repair and lead smelting. One can get exposed to it due to calcium supplements, hair dyes and various other cosmetic products.

Lead poisoning in children results in serious health problems such as learning disabilities, mental retardation, behavioral problems, lower IQ, stunted growth, hearing impairment and juvenile delinquency. Severe cases of lead poisoning can be fatal causing seizures, coma and finally death.

In most cases, children do not exhibit any visible symptoms that are characteristic of the disease. Some common problems that are generally observed in children suffering with lead poisoning include abdominal discomfort, stomach ache, reduced appetite, hyperactivity, sleeping problems and irritability. Since these symptoms are common in various other mild problems, diagnosis of lead poisoning is difficult. However, there are different types of blood tests available that can determine the levels of this in the body. Presence of the level of more than 10mg/dL is considered as lead poisoning.

The most important treatment method for lead poisoning is to use special type of drugs called as chelators. The medicines bind with lead and remove it through urine.

Sally Hansen Fast & Flawless Air Brush Make-Up Creamy Natural 1.5oz.

Customer Review: Wonderful product. Just wish it was more widely available
This product is EXCELLENT for light coverage. I am over 40 and tried this product based on Carmindy's use of a similiar product on TLC's What Not To Wear. I was not disappointed with the coverage or the wear of the product. I use it with a moisturizer, light concealer cream, sponge on the spray base, and then a mineral powder dusted on top. My skin looks so smooth and the product wears for a long time before needing reapplication. My skin tends to be on the sensitive side so I tend to buy products and throw them out in frustration. Not this one. The only frustration is that it's rather hard to find. I've found it on Amazon and in Walgreen's and that's it. I hope Sally Hansen keeps making this wonderful foundation.
Customer Review: Perfect
This product was sent sooner than I had actually thought it would have been. Awesome

You're wearing a suit, so you should look good. Right? Maybe not.

A suit in the wrong color can be detrimental to your appearance on two levels. First are the results in the mirror. It may not be becoming and may clash with your hair or your skin. Remember George Bush in the pale gray windbreaker he occasionally wears? He appears weather-beaten, tired and much older than he is. Imagine Bush in a suit the same color. It is not the picture of a powerful man. You also may recall the image of silver-haired Bill Clinton in a camel jacket. He wore it once, and the results were jarring.

The second negative result of the wrong color is on a psychological level, when the colors you wear send out negative messages. Can you see Laura Bush clad in a leopard print dress or Jennifer Lopez in a matronly brown dress? According to a recent study of the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis, a lack of color knowledge may be costing you money. The bank reviewed economic studies to find possible links between looks and wages. The study's conclusion: A worker with below average looks tended to earn significantly less - on average 9 percent less - per hour than an above average-looking employee. Those with above-average looks tended to earn 5 percent more than their average-looking colleagues. The economists working on the analysis concluded that society values workers with good looks and pays them for it.

What does it mean to "look good" on the job? You might be surprised. My 30 years of research suggest that it has nothing to do with looking "beautiful" or "handsome." It has everything to do with looking polished and professional. In particular, it has to do with being dressed in a professional manner and in colors and styles that flatter you. Colors send messages, and you can use that to your advantage. You must choose them first and foremost to flatter the skin. It is a mistake to think that you can rely on your instincts or personal taste when choosing colors. Without color knowledge, it is difficult to produce results that are consistently positive.

A few colors are universally positive, such as navy blue. However, it is necessary to select the proper shade of navy blue for your skin. In general, if you have gray hair, avoid gray-toned navy blues.

Red is another "universal" color that has strong positive connotations. But keep in mind that orange-reds are less flattering to the skin than blue-reds.

What message does the popular but not recommended color gray send? It suggests old and gray, sad and gray or tired and gray. Worn alone, gray simply sends out a negative message, so it must be combined with a tie in a dynamic color. Women can negate gray's dreariness with a colorful accent, which can include lipstick.

Our sense organs can function only by means of comparisons. For example, the eye accepts a line as long when a shorter line is presented for comparison. The same line is taken as short when compared with a longer line. Color effects are similarly intensified or weakened by contrast. A color that seems perfectly fine may suddenly look absolutely dreadful when compared with a better color. Color knowledge is important when choosing wardrobe colors, as well as hair and makeup colors. Unfortunately, many books on the subject of color analysis contain dated information. For example, all the color books in my library suggest that because of my light skin and hair, I must wear pastels. In reality, most blondes look pale and washed out in pastels, and I am no exception.

The most expensive suit in the world won't help you look good if it's in the wrong color or style.

I am going to list 4 surefire solutions to alleviate eczema fast; not all treatments will be equally effective for you. You should be open to trying new methods and if something does not work keep an open mind; because eventually you will find something that will work.

1. Keep Your Skin Moisturized: After you shower and bathe you should apply an emollient to your body. An emollient contains a fat substance that will lock the moisture in your body and help keep it moist. Throughout the day keep a bottle of lotion close and throughout the day apply lotion to your hands to keep your skin from becoming dry. If you learn to keep your skin moist all the time you will be able to get rid of eczema fast.

Stay away from bubble baths and soaps with harsh chemicals and perfumes. When you take baths and showers use natural moisturizers such as oatmeal products and cetaphil; some people say this soap works wonders. I have also been told to stay away from soaps like Dove and Caress; however you will realize which ones are good for you and which ones are not.

2. Refrain From Scratching: I know that uncomfortable pain and discomfort is easy for you to begin scratching your infected areas; however this does nothing except cause flareups. Instead of scratching your skin ailment try rubbing them instead. You can apply some Noxema it will sooth the itching and is also known to help heal your eczema. These surefire solutions to alleviate eczema fast do work; just keep an open mind and be willing to try them.

3. Bedding: Only use 100% cotton material and keep your bedding washed and cleaned regularly; this will prevent bacteria from growing on it. Also do not wear that is made of wool or synthetic material as it will irritate your infection.

4. Visit Your Doctor: These natural cures do work; however if your symptoms are extreme then you should also take the time to visit your local doctor for the proper medicines. Your doctor will most likely prescribe a mild or topical steroid. Topical steroids are the best choice; because they will calm your eczema outbreaks. Mild steroids should only be taken in small doses because large does can have an adverse effect on your health.

If possible do not use the steroids (mild or topical) as they can have harmful side effects on your body.

In this country the act of buying and flipping real estate has been refined to a fine art form. More and more people are making their fortunes in the real estate market and its a simple truth that it can be done by anyone. It takes a great plan and some money to invest, but if done right the rewards can be astounding. No other area of investment has consistently shown such a high profit margin and such a pattern of growth.

So what does it take to successfully fix & flip a home? This depends on you. Are you a bit of a handyman? Or could you cut off your own finger with a spoon? If you are the latter you may want to engage the services of a contractor, it will likely save money, time and band-aids. Whether you choose to DIY or to hire someone to do the fixing aspect of this there are a few things they almost all fixer-uppers will need.

Paint is the most likely of these suspects. Most older homes have a somewhat neglected cosmetic makeup. A new coat of paint both inside and out can take years off a homes appearance and add nicely to its value. One place that usually needs a bit of love is the kitchen. As the highest traffic area in any home, kitchens can deteriorate faster than any other room. If you are looking for a quick way to increase you asking price, install all new appliances and redo the countertops and cupboards. A modern and inviting kitchen is a great selling point.

If you have purchased a home as a "fixer-upper" chances are there are some aesthetic improvements that are going to be essential in terms of the property itself. To take care of the yard bring in a landscaper to create a new and dynamic flow for the property. New plants and flowers add a beautiful touch to a yard and can be one of the most inviting aspects of a home. The exterior of the home is critical as the "visual impact" can make or break a sale. Just remember, the new asking price must justify the improvements that you have made. So never forget to plan your improvements carefully.

In the cosmetic market, Lead is present to most eyeliner, it may be shocking at first but that's reality. With all the hype of manufacturers about being natural, there is really some catch to it.

For most of the time, people will likely believe most of what the products labels are. From organic, natural to many 100 claims that most of the time would eventually fail the test of being so. But for now, we will get through how to tell how organic a product is.

To put it this way, there are often many substances that are put to cosmetic products. For instance, a lipstick, it may have fragrance chemicals, toxins and even preservatives. With an average woman would consume 5 pounds of it on her entire life, it would be wise to switch to organic products.

An example of this is products using petroleum bases. Make sure that seals are always present in purchasing especially on new products.

Most of the industry's organic market is under regulated; this means that anybody can claim on having organic ingredients. Many companies claim that they are using it. Here are the pointers and facts of having organic cosmetic products.

If you would see something about 100 organic, you can bet that it may be the real thing. Don't get caught within the term Natural as it may be just marketing.
