Customer Review: ---
I almost ordered this book thinking it was a companion book to "Natural Bodycare: Creating Aromatherapy Cosmetics for Health & Beauty" by Julia Meadows. It is not. It is just the paperback version of that book. Beautiful book, well written, but doesn't supply all the pertinent information.
Customer Review: Make your own professional beauty products....Naturally!
I have been so inspired after reading this book to make my own cosmetic products! Infact, I have already made quite a few products for family and friends (after owning the book for not more than a couple of weeks) and they all love them. There are so many different recipies covering a broad range of therapuetic beauty products, from milk baths and nourishing face creams, to foot lotions and body scrubs! Plus there is also the flexibility to alter the recipes to suit your own preference, for examlple choosing the carrier material for a paticular skin type when making facial exfoliaters. It is nothing less than rewarding to make your own beauty product which are as good quality ( if not better ), and less costly than professional products on the market. And the only negative comment I can say about this book is because I live in Australia it's very difficult to get some of the cosmetic ingredients in small quantities (but I'm working on it ).

In todays modern era every one wants to turn back the clock. Living in good health was the main concern and will remain the main goal of many people. Aging is the process of becoming older, a process that is genetically determined and environmentally modulated and Anti-aging refers to the methods and efforts that help to slow down the aging process.

The active ingredients found in anti-aging cosmeceuticals are alpha lipoic acid, dimethylaminoethanol, hyaluronic acid, kinetin, vitamin E, vitamin C, rosemarinic acid etc. Aging skin becomes thinner, rougher, drier and more sensitive, and hence will bruise and burn easily. Also, skin loses its elasticity and this leads to wrinkles, which is the bane of most womens lives. As skin ages, certain changes occur and these demand that we make changes to our skin care regimen.

In the recent years redundant beauty lotions, creams, serums, beverages and supplements have ruled the market-place in an effort to make consumers look and feel younger. Researchers working in the field of anti-aging say that it is never too early to begin preventing the signs of aging in the skin. The field of anti-aging has experienced large growth just in the past two decades and the advances made have been numerous, giving consumers a wealth of information and options to consider in their pursuit of younger and more vital looking skin.

Anti-aging is a big business and growing healthily. Current American anti-aging market is estimated to be worth approximately $50 billion and is expected to reach $72 billion by 2009 at an average annual growth rate of 9.5%. Euro-monitor and freedonia group indicate that most of the growth in the multi-billion dollar skin care market can be attributed to the anti-aging segment, which is expected to grow at around 25% over the coming years. In the past, anti-aging products were typically limited to cosmetic products. But today anti-aging products have found new outlets in the form of dietary supplements and foods. Thousands of products claim to decrease the visible signs of aging, mainly improving collagen production and decreasing fine lines and wrinkles, one of the more visible signs of aging.

With few exceptions pre-market approval by Food and Drug Administration of US is not mandatory for the anti-aging cosmeceuticals, so many companies manufacturing these products push their marketing lingo to the maximum to attract the consumers with flashy packaging and supercilious claims. Another popular trend in the promotion of anti-aging Cosmeceuticals is to use dermatologists name to convince the consumers.

Though future growth is hale and hearty, the direction of this growth depends on the development of new scientific research and how rapidly products based on this can be created and satisfies the consumers.
